§ 10-91. Impounding livestock and fowl.

  • (a)

    All livestock and fowl found running at large in the city shall be impounded in an animal shelter, and wherever possible notice of the impounding of any livestock or fowl shall be given as soon as practicable to the owner.

    (b)

    Any livestock impounded may be claimed by the owner within three days on payment of a pound fee per animal plus a fee per day for board. Such fees are on file in the city clerk's office. After three days, any unclaimed livestock may be disposed of humanely or sold at public auction after three days' notice by publication of notice of sale posted at three public places within the city, one of which shall be the city hall.

    (c)

    Any fowl impounded may be claimed by the owner within three days on payment of a pound fee per fowl plus a fee per day per fowl for board. Such fees are on file in the city clerk's office. After three days, any unclaimed fowl may be disposed of humanely or sold.

    (d)

    At each animal shelter there shall be kept a record of all livestock and fowl impounded showing the following:

    (1)

    The date of the impounding;

    (2)

    A description of the livestock or fowl impounded;

    (3)

    The disposition of the livestock or fowl; and

    (4)

    If sold, the date of sale, sale price and the name of person to whom sold.
